A tragic traffic accident was the reason for setting up our foundation: in 1969, Ute and Siegfried Steiger lost their son Björn because there was no nationwide rescue service in Germany at that time.
With the Björn Steiger Stiftung, the couple laid the foundations for the rescue services we have today. Since then, we have been committed to improving emergency assistance.
Our goal is to improve emergency assistance and rescue services in Germany. We pursue this goal in several ways by
THE FOUNDATION AS A "THINKTANK" FOR THE EMERGENCY SERVICES
Since our foundation in 1969, we have been campaigning for a functioning rescue service in Germany and have been able to initiate many improvements over the years. The rescue services are currently in crisis. We see it as our task to develop solutions for the numerous shortcomings.
